How to stay the course when you really want to binge
If you’re fighting the urge to binge, you’re not alone. We have all been there and done that and continue to do so.
The one thing to remember is that the urge to binge eat is not coming from you. It is the craving. The craving doesn’t want to become healthier. It doesn’t want to lose weight, gain control and take charge of it’s life. It is already in charge.
It is you that wants to become healthier. You who wants to lose weight. You who wants to gain control and take charge. The urge to binge eat is not you.
Staying the course
If you’re struggling, there are a couple of things you can do to help stay the course and silence the craving.
First, eat a good-sized meal of foods from your Unlimited food category. Make sure there is some kind of healthy protein on your plate but eat a good portion of something healthy. Make it a Mediterranean salad with mozzarella and no dressing, a grilled chicken sandwich on rye with salad, even a homemade burger with a salad side. Make it something delicious and something that makes you feel good. But make sure it’s from the Unlimited category!
Second, feel good about that meal. Feel satisfied with what you ate and laugh in the face of your craving. Get mad if it helps. Tell the craving to go to hell and that the food you just ate was so much tastier than the junk it wants you to eat. Much more satisfying and much more nutritious.
Once you have genuinely enjoyed eating something guilt-free, the craving should be much easier to control. Using a protein in that meal will make you feel fuller for longer and make it much more difficult for the inner craving to be heard.
This is one of the many techniques we teach on this course. It is also one of the most effective.
Make sure to keep the ingredients necessary for such a meal on hand as cravings have a habit of appearing when you least want or expect it!
